{"id":821,"date":"2019-01-26T20:13:11","date_gmt":"2019-01-26T20:13:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ric-club.org\/?p=821"},"modified":"2019-02-07T19:49:59","modified_gmt":"2019-02-07T19:49:59","slug":"blog","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ric-club.org\/?p=821","title":{"rendered":"VIRULENT NEWCASTLE DISEASE ALERT"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Message from State Veterinarian Dr. Annette Jones for Residents in VND-affected areas in Compton, Muscoy, Mira Loma, and Perris<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> Due to progression and duration of a virulent Newcastle Disease (VND) outbreak in parts of Southern California, the State Veterinarian has ordered mandatory euthanasia of birds in neighborhoods in <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>Compton (Los Angeles County)<\/strong><\/li><li> <strong>Mira Loma\/Jurupa Valley (Riverside County)<\/strong> <\/li><li> <strong>Muscoy (San Bernardino County)<\/strong> <\/li><li> <strong>Perris (Riverside County)<\/strong> <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>\n\nUnfortunately, even if birds and flocks have previously tested negative but now fall within a designated mandatory euthanasia area, the birds must be euthanized. USDA\/CDFA staff will contact affected bird owners.\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>While this action is difficult for all involved, it MUST be done to eradicate VND.
